Curriculum

We believe that children need a positive educational environment to develop into happy adults and grow into lifelong learners.  Academic goals are specific to each class level, but all classes are organized around core components and include a daily special program.

Free Play

Exploring, sharing, and taking turns are the main objectives of providing both parallel and cooperative play opportunities which help aid in social-emotional development.  In addition to free play time in the classroom, each class has daily playground time allowing opportunities for socialization, pretend play, and gross motor development.

Gross Motor Skills

Activities that encourage movement through skipping, hopping, dancing, throwing, catching, and climbing build gross motor skills such as body awareness, balance, and coordination.

Fine Motor Skills

Building, crafting, and sensory play activities help to develop fine motor skills critical for life and learning. We utilize pasting, coloring, play dough, blocks, finger painting, sand, and many other mediums and manipulatives to assist in developing these skills, which also help to support early writing skills.

Circle Time

This looks different at every age, but Circle Time brings the class together promoting language development, verbal expression, and introduces important social concepts, such as following rules, taking turns speaking in front of a group, and respecting others. As children progress, Circle Time also includes age-appropriate academic instruction.

Story Time

Stories, songs, and poems shared together and independently help develop early literacy skills and a love of reading. Story Time enhances listening, concentration, and expands vocabulary.

Structured Breaks

Snack time and bathroom breaks reinforce social and physical development, etiquette, manners, and personal hygiene.

Weekly Specials

The core curriculum is expanded with daily Specials. Our Specials are thematic and center on a Spanish word of the week. They include the following subjects:

Music and Movement

Helps the mind and body work together with songs, instruments, dance and yoga to ignite all areas of child development including intellectual, social emotional, motor, and language.

Art

Develops creative expression, tactile awareness, color discrimination and visual memory. Students learn to explore art mediums and take pride in their work.

Science and Nature

Introduces environmental awareness and responsibility while interacting with the world through pictures, stories, experiments, and live animal guests.
