Classes
We offer four levels of core classes and a caretaker-child class for our youngest learners. Our curriculum page includes more about how a Brandywine School day is typically structured. Our enrichment programs page provides information on the various enrichment opportunities for each grade level.

Play, one of the most important activities of childhood, is the foundation of this nurturing and supportive classroom. The Playgroup classroom is a secure, happy, and loving environment developed to create a positive first school experience. The curriculum is based on a series of themes that integrate books, songs and activities to help our youngest learners grow and develop. Because children thrive on routine, each school day follows a set schedule helping our students adjust to the school setting. Specific developmental skills introduced and reinforced include: following directions, listening, sharing, peer play, color and shape recognition, and counting.

The Threes classroom provides a structured, supportive environment where young students add to their skill sets. The curriculum is based on purposefully chosen themes that feature opportunities for sharing, creating, skill building, and having fun. The daily routine and schedule gives the increasingly independent young child a sense of security. The Young Fours classroom is an interactive setting that encourages the young child’s curiosity and enthusiasm for learning. Self-reliance, decision-making, logical reasoning, letter knowledge, and cooperative play are important components of the increasingly academic curriculum, preparating students for the Pre-K classroom.

Enhancing their social, emotional and academic skills, our Pre-K program allows students to grow in their social, emotional and academic skills in their final year of preschool. The Pre-K classroom establishes a comfortable and inviting school setting. The objective of the curriculum is mastering skills to ensure a smooth transition and confident entrance into Kindergarten. Areas of focus include phonemic awareness, student independence, writing and reading. Brandywine School strives to lay the foundation for a lifelong love of learning and the Pre-K classroom brings that goal full circle.
